Masei

“These are the travellings and the going out…and these are their going out in accordance with their travelling” (Bamidbar 33:1). The language (‘going’ and ‘travelling’) is switched around from the beginning of the pasuk to the end (what is the reason for this)?
we can explain that the Torah conected teh travelling in the wilderness to the exodus from Mitzrayim, and made it dependant on teh exodus. It would seem that (only) at the end of all the travelling, then the exodus fromMitzrayim is completed.
This is because in each stage of the travelling they became more and more distanced from Mitzrayim, until they eventually arrived in Eretz Yisrael.
This too should be the desire of man, that through separation of physicality it will lead him to connection to HaShem, to become pure of heart.
However it should not be because he is disgusted with physicality, (for HaShem wants the connection to Him to be for the sake of Heaven, and not merely because one despises this world)
It is for this reason that HaShem made physicality attractive, so that man’s actions (when involved in spirituality) should be solely for the sake of Heaven.
This is the idea of “their going out, for their travails” (that they leave the physicality for the sake of “their travels”-for the sake of Heaven)
And subsequently the more one travels and gets closer to HaShem, the more he completes the going out, by separating himself from physicality, and each one helps the other. (The first stage is removing oneself from the physicality, in the direction of doing things for the sake of Heaven. The more one continues in this path the more one becomes distanced from the drive for physicality).

(see תרל”ט)
The Chidushei Harim explained the pasuk :
Instruct the Israelite people and say to them: When you enter the land of Canaan, this is the land that shall fall to you as your portion, the land of Canaan with its various boundaries: (Bamidbar 34:2)
A person must accept upon himself to always be subservient to HaShem, exactly as He will is, so much so that He will never be forgotten from the person for even a moment.
Now even though one knows that he is not on that level, nevertheless that level of acceptance and the desire must be for the best. This (good intention and desire) will help him, at least somewhat.
[“I think that this is what he said, perhaps in a slightly different way].
It would seem that we can add that it was clear to HaShem that there would be remnants of the Canaanites, nevertheless the will of HaShem is that Bnei Yisrael should accept upon themselves to completely uproot them.
Similarly our Sages explain that when they crossed the Jordan river, they actually took upon themselves this commitment. And even though some of the Canaanites did remain, nevertheless in the future this will be corrected, when everything, with the help of HaShem will be perfected.
It is through the acceptance that they accepted upon themselves properly. As above.
