Vayakhel Pekudei
“From the parsha of Vayakhel and Pekudei has been forgotten from me, I only remember a little.”
(see תרל”ז 1 above).
The Parsha of Vayakhel begins with the commandment of Shabbos.
Even though Shabbos is defined by not doing any work, it is nevertheless what repairs all work.
(This is because of the concept of) “nullifying it, gives it existence”. This is because all work is nullified on Shabbos comes, and this nullification and holding back is what actually gives it existence.
This is what Rashi (Shemos 20:9) means when he says ; “one’s rest on Shabbos should be reposeful, that one feels as if all of one’s work is done.” For the truth is that through Shabbos, one’s work is indeed completed. For Shabbos has the power to complete everything that a person stopped doing due to the Shabbos restriction.
Now the parshiot of Vayakhel and Pekudei are general – klal, and individual – prat. The parsha of Vayakhel is the general principle, (describing the general laws of the Mishakn and its vessels), which is in essence the idea of Shabbos, when everything becomes one with the secret of oneness.
This itself is what is meant by “These are the words that HaShem has commanded”. Meaning the gathering together that is mentioned in the beginning of the pasuk, which is the idea of Shabbos.
And the Parsha of Pekudei is the individual – prat (where everything that was brought to the Mishkan was counted), for the klal needs the prat and the prat needs the klal.
(See above תרל”ז 1, the Sfas Emes explains how during the days of the week, the work that one does in all the different things of creation are purified by one’s work. However on Shabbos they all need to reconnect to their source.)
