Acharei Mot dvar Torah. Corona

Firstly, thank everyone who makes this minyan. possible and especially the Rubin’s and all the bochurim who lein.
The talk of the day obviously is this crazy virus that is spreading around the world. The gemara in Baba Kama says that puranut only comes about because of the reshaim but when it starts it starts with the tzadikim.
It’s also the period of the sefira and the time we mourn the talmidei Rabbi Akiva who died during this period. They died from askara a breathing disease perhaps similar to Corona.
We know that even though they were tremendous tzadikim and talmidei chachamim there was something lacking in their midos. They were lacking in peace and love. They had a special job to do and that was to transmit the Torah from Rebi Akiva to the next generation, but because of their deficiency in their midos they weren’t suitable and other talmidim had to be found.
Nobody knows exactly what the reason for this virus is but there is definitely a change taking place. It seems like we are witnessing a changing of the guard. Where older people are being removed from us and what is left is the younger generation.
On one hand it is a terrible pain for us watching this happen, but on the flip side it is a call to everyone to live your life fuller and to be greater, to step into new roles.
The Sefas Emes says on the pasuk Ani HaShem Elokeichem, that more important than the reason why we do mitzvos is the longing to do the will of HaShem. We are in a situation where everything seems so believed but in actual fact the main thing is not if we are able to everything in the way we are used to but rather to be open to wanting to do the will of HaShem in each unique situation He puts us in
