ב”ה בהר בחקותי

במד’ מו”ח ביד לשון כו’.
The Midrash (Vayikra Rabbah 33:1) (on the pasuk teaching us about the prohibition of forbidden speech, quotes the pasuk in Mishlei 18:21), “Death and life are in the hands of the tongue.
(This can be compared to a burning coal, if someone blows it, that will reawaken the fire in it, yet if they spit on it, that will extinguish it.)
כמו שיסוד האדם הוא בלשון. כענין המדרגות דצח”מ. נמצא כי היתרון לאדם המדבר הוא הלשון.
This means that just as the main principle of man is in his tongue (the power of speech), just as we find the different levels (of beings in the creation), inanimate, growing, living and the highest is man with the power of speech. Therefore the main advantage over the rest of creation is his power of speech – the tongue.
וכמו כן בכללות הברואים האדם המובחר שבהם. אכן בנ”י הם המדברים כמ”ש מגיד דבריו ליעקב כו’.
Similarly, in the entire creation, even though man is the chosen of all creation, nevertheless Benei Yisrael are the one’s who truly have the power of speech. As it states (Tehillim 147:19) “He tells His word to Yaakov”.
והם המה הפה והלשון שמות וחיים בידיהם ע”י התורה שניתן לנו וכוחן של ישראל בפה לעורר אש התורה שהיא הגחלת. וכמו שמתפשטין ניצוצות מעצם האש. כן דברי התורה כפטיש יפוצץ כו’ ומתחלק לשבעים לשונות.
This is through the mouth and the tongue, through which death and life is dependent on. It is through the Torah that is given to Bnei Yisrael, and the power of their mouth is to awaken the fire of Torah, which is compared to the coal (in the abovementioned Midrash).
Now just as many different sparks come out of the actual fire, so too the words of Torah, are like a hammer smashing a rock, and has 70 different (parts and) languages.
ובאמת התפשטות פנימיות התורה נמשך אחר הלשון. כי בלשון וטעמים מתהפך פי’ המלה לכמה אופנים.
Now in truth the spreading out of the internal life force of the the Torah, is dependant on the tongue. For through one’s tongue (the different expressions, and ways of explanation), the words can be understood differently,
והש”י ברא הכל בכ”ב אותיות כידוע שיש צרופי אתוון לאין שיעור.
HaShem created everything with 22 letters, and as is known there is an infinite amount of combinations of letters.
והלשון הקודש שניתן לבנ”י הוא דרך האמת שכל הדרכים מתפשטין ממנה וע”ז יסדו ורוממנו מכל הלשונות.
Lashon hakodesh (the language of the Torah) which is given to Bnei Yisrael, is the path of truth, from which all other paths spread out from. It is based on this language that all other languages came from.
ובנ”י זכו לזה בקבלת התורה כמ”ש גבורי כח ע”ד לשמוע בק”ד.
It was at the receiving of the Torah, that Bnei Yisrael meritted this revelation, as it states (regarding receiving the Torah) “Powerful ones who do His wll, to hear His Voice”
ובמד’ ויקרא בשומרי שביעית הכ’ מדבר חמי חקלי’ בייר ויהיב אר’ ושותק.
The Midrash (Vayikra Rabbah 1:1) states that the pasuk “powerful ones…” is referring to those that keep the Shemita. For normally a person will listen to a command for a day or a week, yet here the farmer watches his field and vineyard go barren and gives his purse and is silent.
הענין הוא עושי דברו הוא תיקון המעשים להיות נמשך הכל אחר הנהגת התורה שהוא הנהגת הבורא ית’ כדבר מלך שלטון. וע”י שבנ”י מבטלין כל רצונם ומעשיהם להטותם ע”פ דרך התורה. לכן זוכין לשמוע בקול דברו.
The idea is that “Powerful ones…” is the completion of all actions, that they are drawn exclusively by the rules of the Torah, which is the directive of HaShem, just as the words of a king who rules.
It is to this that Bnei Yisrael nullify their will and action, to be directed on the path of the Torah. Because of this (commitment and nullification of their will) they merit to “hear His Voice”
וזה מצות השמיטין ויובלות.
this is the Mitzvot of Shemitah and Yovel.
וכמו כן ימי הספירה לבטל כל המידות אליו ית’ זוכין אח”כ לתורה.
So too the days of counting the sefira is to nullify all of one’s traits all towards HaShem, and this leads to receiving the Torah (on Shavuot).
וכן תקיעת שופר של יובל שהיא הארה מקבלת התורה שהי’ מתעורר בכל יובל בזמן שהי’ יובל נוהג:
So too the idea of blowing the shofar on the Yovel year, is a certain awakening of (the shofar blowing) from the receiving of the Torah. This (energy) is awakened every Yovel year, in the times when Yovel laws were applicable.
