Chayei Sara תרל”א 5

אא”ז מו”ר זצלה”ה הגיד דברי זוהר הקדוש שאליעזר הי’ עבד אמת במ”ש עבד אברהם אנכי
The Chidushei Harim explained the Zohar that says that Eliezer was a true slave when he said “I am the slave of Avraham”
ע”ש בפרשת וירא [בפסוק והנה בן לשרה ע”ש] See Zohar (1:103) [Eliezer came with treasures to find a wife for Yitzchak and he could have said I am a friend of Avraham, but instead he said I am Avraham’s slave] שהיה אצלו ליחוס מה שהוא עבד אברהם.
That Eliezer was so proud to be a slave of Avraham, that he considered it a proud lineage. (Whereas normally one would be embarrassed of being a slave, yet Eliezer was proud because his master was so holy)
וי”ל עוד כי בודאי הכירו בו שהוא צדיק שהרי אמר לו בוא ברוך ה’ כו’ ורצה שלא יסברו שמעצמותו כן רק שע”י אברהם זכה לבוא מבחי’ ארור לברוך.
Furthermore we can explain that since Lavan and his family realised that Eliezer was holy, as we see by their proclamation: “come the blessed of HaShem”. Therefore Eliezer didn’t want them to think that he was great due to his own accord rather he attributed all of his greatness to Avraham.
[ובזה יש לפרש מ”ש במדרש מילתי’ מגניא אקדים ואמר שזה הגנאי מה שאין לו מעצמו כנ”ל ע”ש]:
[With this we can also explain the Medrash that says, one should first reveal one’s blemish, (Bava kama 8), that it was a blemish to Eliezer that he had nothing from his own accord]
