Lech Lecha תרל”ד 2
ברש”י לך להנאתך ולטובתך כו’
Rashi explains that the words Lech Lecha teach us that HaShem was telling Avraham that the traveling will be for himself, for Avraham benefit and good.
אף כי צוהו השי”ת ללכת ולהניח הכל לא יעלה על דעת אדם לומר כי צוהו השי”ת להיות נפרש מעוה”ז.
For even though the command was for Avraham to go and to leave everything, we would never consider this meaning that HaShem told him to separate from this world.
רק אדרבא להמשיך קדושתו ית’ בכל מעשיו.
On the contrary, the commandment was that he will draw the holiness of HaShem into every action
וזהו לך לך כענין שכתוב והחיות רצוא ושוב.
And this is also the meaning of Lech Lecha, like the holy angels run forth and retreat back
פי’ שכל דבר השגה צריך האדם להכניס בעומק לבו ושיתפשט נקודה זאת בכל מעשיו ועי”ז הוא מתקיים.
This means that every comprehension that a person has one needs to place it deep into one’s heart that this concept will spread through to every action and that will make it last
והבן זה מאוד
And understand this concept well.
[ונראה לי שמזה יצא לאברהם אע”ה ליקח ביתו ואנשיו אתו כמ”ש ויקח כו’ כנ”ל]:
And it would seem to me that this is why Avraham took all of his possessions and all.the members of his household, even though he wasn’t told to bring them along, however Avraham understood that he was not supposed to disconnect from.the world, but to rather influence the world starting with his immediate household.
