מאלמים אלומים בתוך השדה בתרגום מאסרין איסרין.
In Yosef’s dream, he dreamt that he and his brothers were gathering bundles of sheaves. The Onkelus translates the word as binding sheaves.
וי”ל כי שדה פי’ הפקר כמו עשו איש שדה.
This can be explained as follows. A field (where they were biding the sheaves) is generally an open place that anyone can enter. This has the connotation of doing as one pleases, just as Eisav was called a man of the field.
וזה הי’ עבודת השבטים לחבר הכל להשורש חיות השי”ת שיש בכל דבר. ושיתברר זה שיהי’ הכל מחובר ומקושר ומדובק לשרשו.
And the mission of the 12 tribes was to connect everything to it’s life force source of HaShem in it. And to make it clear that everything is connected, attached and stuck to its source.
אף דברי העוה”ז שנראין נפרדים והפקר כשדה.
Even mundane worldly matters that appear separated and free like a field
[והוא בחי’ ספירת העומר] [this is also the idea of sefirat haomer] וקמה אלומתי כתב במדרש שתיקותי’ דאימי’ כו’ כי זה בחי’ רחל ובני’ שתפסו בחי’ שתיקה כמ”ש במדרש. כי זה פי’ שתיקה כמ”ש גוף טוב כו’.
The Midrash (Rabba 84:10) says that when Yosef said His sheaf stood up this was due to the silence of his mother Rachel that was silent (when Leah was being married instead of her). As the mishna in Avot says: I never found anything better than silence for one’s body.
זה שהאדם יודע שאינו יכול לעשות עפ”י שכלו ורצונו כלל רק להיות בטל להשגחה עליונה. ולכך לא אמרה שהיא לאה. ע”י שראתה שכן רצון עליון:
This trait is necessary when one sees that one cannot act upon one’s own intellect and desire at all, rather one wants to nullify his own will to that of the guidance from Above. For this reason Rachel did not reveal that Leah was impersonating her, for Rachel reaslised that this was the will of HaShem.
