Vayetze

After Yaakov’s dream, he said ‘I had no idea that this was a holy place’, Rashi explains that Yaakov meant that had he known hhow holy the place is he would not have slept there. (In spite of the signs from Shamayim that he was supposed to sleep there he still would not have slept there because of the holiness)
We can learn from Yaakov avinu, that even after such a dream which revived his soul, when he was going on a dangerous adventure and was now promised protection,
Nevertheless he was upset that he slept there. ForYaakov would have prefered to attach himself and connect to HaShem
As the Zohar says when Yaakov said ‘I did not know’ he was hinting to a part of himself that now had a deeper connection to HaShem that he was unaware of previously
And now through the dream he gained an added element of fear of HaShem
And this is the general rule: That all enlightenment that we receive needs to bring a person to a greater fear of HaShem, for without that it is worthless. [This is also brought down in the name of the Ba’al Shem Tov].
