Vayishlach תרל”ג 2

ואתה אמרת היטב כו’.
When Yaakov requests that HaShem save him from Eisav, instead of making a new request for blessing, he falls back onto HaShem’s promise to him ‘You told me you will surely be good to me and make my offspring like the sand of the sea that cannot be counted’
שאין לאדם לבקש על פי שכלו רק להיות נגמר רצון הקב”ה שהוא הטוב באמת:
We learn from here an important lesson, that even if one is very great, has many merits, and a deep understanding of what may be good for himself, he should nevertheless not make any requests according to what he deems with his own understanding what is good or what is not. Rather the correct approach is to just will whatever HaShem wills for him, for that is truly the best thing for him.
