Vayishlach

After Yaakov’s travails with 20 years at Lavan, and then fighting with Eisav’s malach and finally surviving the encounter with Eisav, he comes to Shechem in a state of wholeness and completion ‘shalem’
This state of completion comes about specifically because of all the travails that aakov went through and kept on growing and picking himself up from it all. As the pasuk says ‘A tzaddik falls seven times and and gets up’
And this idea is also in the Zohar on the pasuk ‘though the misfortunes of the tzadik are many (tehillim 34:20)’. This means that it is because of the many misfortunes of the tzadik, this is what purified him and brought out his greatness from the realm of possibility to actualization.
And the continuation of the pasuk ‘…and HaShem will save him from them all’, this doesn’t mean that he won’t go through the travails rather the word יצילנו can also be understood from the root ויצל meaning separated. That these travails separated him and made him greater and even more perfect.
