"And in all the land of your possession…"
The Sefas Emes opens with the pasuk about redeeming the land "in all the land of your possession," and reads it as a hint to the inner avodah of every Jew.
ע"י הרצון והתשוקה תמיד להתדבק בהש"י נפתח הפנימיות ובא גאולה.
Through the constant ratzon (will) and yearning to cleave to Hashem, the penimiyus (inner dimension) is opened and geulah (redemption) comes.
A continuous inner longing to attach oneself to Hashem unlocks the hidden inner point within a person and the world, and that opening is itself the beginning of redemption.
ארץ לשון רצון להתדבק בשורש ואחיזת כל אדם במקור החיות בו ית'.
"Eretz" (land) is an expression of ratzon — the desire to cleave to the root, and every person's grip upon the Source of life in Hashem.
The word "eretz" is linked to "ratzon," desire (and to "rotz," to run); thus "land of your possession" hints at each person's deep desire and hold on his source of vitality in Hashem.
ועי' בס' ד"א מעין זה]:
And see in the sefer Da'as (Divrei Emes) something similar to this.
The Sefas Emes refers the reader to a related idea in another sefer for further study.
Summary: This brief note reads "the land of your possession" as a hint that each person's true "holding" is his constant ratzon and yearning to cleave to Hashem. The very word "eretz" is rooted in "ratzon" (desire); that ongoing longing opens the penimiyus and brings geulah.
