Divine Power of the Day

Pesach · תרל"ז (1876) · Essay 2

Redemption · Exodus · Divine Providence · Miracles · Sacred Time

“On that very day, God brought them out …”

This teaches that God fixed the redemption into the very essence of the day itself, making the day an instrument of deliverance.

The meaning is that the Holy One embedded the Exodus in the intrinsic nature of the day, and through the essence of that day He brought them out of Egypt.

The Sefat Emet emphasizes that the day was not only the time of redemption but its activating force.

And through this, an aspect of redemption remained within the essence of that day.

Because the day itself carried the power of redemption, that spiritual energy persists every year.

And similarly, “God saved on that day,” meaning the salvation was effected through that very day.

The day is not merely the backdrop but the mechanism through which salvation occurs.

As it is written, “He made a remembrance for His wonders,” meaning God fixed the miracle into a mitzvah or a day so it would serve as a remembrance for generations.

Miracles are embedded into sacred practices or sacred times so their spiritual power can be renewed perpetually.

Summary: The Sefat Emet teaches that the Exodus was woven into the very essence of the day, making time itself the vehicle of redemption and allowing that redemptive force to remain accessible across generations.
