Tzitzis binding the outer edge to its inner root

On the passage of tzitzis I have written elsewhere, with a small addition to the teaching: "And it shall be for you as tzitzis" — specifically "for you," for the body is the garment of the neshamah, and the hint of tzitzis is to bind every thing to its penimiyus (inner core). Therefore tzitzis are placed on the corners [as it is written, "From the corner of the earth we have heard songs"]. The matter is that everything has a clinging to its root, and at the extremities of a thing — there the connection is found, hinting at the four elements, whose entire vitality flows from the four letters of Hashem's Name, blessed be He.

Just as a garment clothes the body, so the body clothes the soul. Tzitzis are tied at the corners — the outermost edges — to teach that even at the furthest extremity, a thing remains bound to its inner root. The four corners correspond to the four fundamental elements of creation, all of which draw their life from the four-letter Name of Hashem. The mitzvah of tzitzis reveals that everything, even at its outer edge, stays connected to its inner source.

וע"י הרמז שבנ"י עושין במצוה זו וחפצים להתדבק בפנימיות שורש החיות מתעורר במלבוש הגוף החיות וזה לכם דייקא.

And through the hint that Bnei Yisrael enact in this mitzvah — desiring to cleave to the penimiyus — the root of vitality is aroused within the garment of the body, and this is the meaning of "for you," specifically.

When Bnei Yisrael perform the mitzvah of tzitzis with the longing to connect to the inner point, they awaken the hidden life-force within their own physical bodies. This is why the verse stresses "for you" — the mitzvah draws inner vitality into the very "garment" of the person.

וכמ"ש במד' ע"פ אור זרוע לצדיק כי נמצא גנוז בנפשות בני ישראל שורש המצות וע"י המצוה במעשה מוציאין מכח אל הפועל:

And as it is said in the Midrash on the verse "Light is sown for the tzaddik" — that the root of the mitzvos is hidden away within the souls of Bnei Yisrael, and through performing the mitzvah in deed, one brings it from potential into actuality.

The spiritual root of every mitzvah already lies dormant, planted like seed-light, within the souls of Bnei Yisrael. The physical performance of a mitzvah is what activates that hidden inner root, bringing it from latent potential into living reality.

Summary: The mitzvah of tzitzis, placed on the corners of the garment, teaches that even at its outermost edge every thing remains bound to its inner root — just as the body is a garment for the soul and the four elements draw their life from Hashem's Name. When Bnei Yisrael perform tzitzis with the desire to cleave to the inner point, they awaken the hidden vitality within their own bodies, revealing that the root of every mitzvah lies dormant in the Jewish soul and is brought from potential into actuality through the physical deed.
