במדרש בני אם ערבת כו' ע"ש כי קצרתי.
“In the Midrash: ‘My son, if you have guaranteed…’ etc.; see there, for I will be brief.”

דלכאורה בנ"י מקבלי התורה הם הלוים ולא הערבים.
“For at first glance, the receivers of the Torah were the Levites, not the guarantors.”
He raises the question: if the Levites served as the formal bearers of Torah, why is Israel as a whole called guarantors?
רק שבנ"י נעשו ערבים לתקן כל העולם בכח התורה.
“Rather, Israel became guarantors in order to repair the entire world through the power of Torah.”
The role of Israel extends beyond receiving Torah; they are responsible for elevating all creation through it.
וזה שנאמר להם כי לי כ"ה ואתם תהיו לי כו'.
“And this is what was said to them: ‘For all the earth is Mine, and you shall be to Me…’”
The verse underlines Israel’s unique designation as a people tasked with universal spiritual influence.
ע"י שנבדלו ויצאו מן הכלל ללמד על הכלל כולו יצאו.
“By being set apart and removed from the generality, they emerged in order to teach the entirety.”
Israel’s separation is not for privilege, but to serve as a model and corrective for the world.
וע"ז השיבו אשר דיבר ה' נעשה הוא לתקן כל הבריאה.
“And to this they responded, ‘What God has spoken, we will do’—meaning, to repair all creation.”
The acceptance of Torah is interpreted as embracing responsibility for cosmic rectification.
דכ' בדבר ה' שמים נעשו.
“For it is written: ‘By the word of God, the heavens were made.’”
Creation itself emerges from the divine word; thus, those who bear that word influence all existence.
דוק ותבין.
“Examine and understand.”
The Sefat Emet signals that this principle requires deeper contemplation.
והאמת כי הכל תלוי בבנ"י.
“And the truth is that everything depends on Israel.”
He asserts that Israel’s spiritual state affects all realms.
כמו שמתקנים עצמם.
“As they rectify themselves…”
The internal work of self‑refinement is the root of outward influence.
נמשכין כל הברואים אחריהם.
“…all creatures are drawn after them.”
Creation aligns itself with the spiritual condition of Israel.
וכמו כן הרב כמו שמתקן עצמו נמשכין אחריו התלמידים כמ"ש במד' נטל טלית הכל עליו.
“And likewise the teacher—according as he rectifies himself, the students follow him, as the Midrash says: ‘He took the cloak; all is upon him.’”
The dynamic of influence extends from leaders to followers, just as from Israel to the world.
וזה עיקר הפי' יש בידם למחות.
“And this is the main meaning of ‘they have the power to protest.’”
Their ability to correct others comes from inner spiritual authority.
בתוך עצמם.
“Within themselves.”
True protest or correction begins internally.
כמ"ש הוכח תוכיח.
“As it is said: ‘You shall surely rebuke.’”
The obligation of rebuke is first directed inward.
ע"י שיוכיח עצמו.
“By rebuking oneself…”

ממילא יהי' תוכחה בלב הנמשכים אחריו.
“…there will automatically be rebuke in the hearts of those who follow him.”

וכמו כן כל הבריאה אחר בנ"י כנ"ל.
“And so too, all creation follows after Israel, as said above.”
The same pattern holds universally: Israel’s spiritual state guides the world’s.
