בענין המכות שדרשו חכמים והוסיפו ועמדו על ס' ועל ר"מ ועל ש' מכות.

Concerning the plagues that the Sages expounded, adding and arriving at sixty, two hundred forty, and three hundred plagues.

The Sefat Emet teaches that the Sages’ expanded counts of the plagues represent deeper spiritual layers of judgment revealed through their interpretations.

בוודאי הכל אמת במקומות מיוחדים.

Certainly all of these teachings are true in their particular realms.

Each numerical system of plagues corresponds to a different spiritual dimension, all valid and operating within their respective contexts.

ועל ענין זה אמרו כל המרבה לספר ביצ"מ שיכולין להוסיף ע"י סיפור יצ"מ שיתפשטו המכות ביותר.

And regarding this they said that whoever increases in telling of the Exodus is praiseworthy, for through recounting the Exodus the plagues can expand further.

The act of narrating the Exodus itself uncovers deeper layers of divine revelation, metaphorically increasing the “plagues,” meaning the exposure of falsehood and the unveiling of truth.

והנה עשר מכות.

And behold, there are ten plagues.

The ten original plagues serve as the root from which all expanded enumerations emerge.

And “Detzach, Adash, Be’achav” are three groups.

The traditional tripartite grouping of the plagues implies structural divisions within the divine acts of judgment.

וס' ור"מ וש' עולה בס"ה תרי"ג נגד תרי"ג מצות:

And sixty, two hundred forty, and three hundred together total 613, corresponding to the 613 commandments.

The Sefat Emet explains that the expanded plague enumerations collectively allude to the totality of the mitzvot, suggesting that the plagues serve as a corrective force restoring Israel to the fullness of Torah.
