כמה לקו באצבע עשר ועל הים כתיב היד כו'.

“How much they were struck by the ‘finger’—ten; and at the sea it is written ‘the hand,’ etc.”

The Sefat Emet notes the escalation from the plagues in Egypt, described as the ‘finger of God,’ to the miracles at the sea, described as the ‘hand of God.’ This shift suggests a fuller revelation, a greater manifestation of divine power as redemption unfolds.

ויש לנו להוסיף כי לעתיד כתיב זה ה' קוינו לו כביכול יהי' הגאולה בכל הקומה:

“And we must add that regarding the future it is written, ‘This is the Lord for whom we hoped,’ as if to say that the redemption will be in its full stature.”

The Sefat Emet teaches that the final redemption will surpass even the miracles of Egypt and the sea. It will be a revelation in ‘full stature,’ meaning a complete, unhidden manifestation of the Divine—one that Israel will be able to point to directly and say, ‘This is our God.’

Summary: The progression from finger to hand hints at increasingly revealed divine power, culminating in a future redemption that will display God in full, unmistakable clarity.
