And in the Midrash on “Then Moses sang,” it states: “She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the Torah of kindness is on her tongue.”

The Sefat Emet begins by linking the Song at the Sea to a verse in Proverbs, emphasizing that the song emerges from wisdom and kindness.

From the day the world was created no song was uttered until Israel came to the sea.

The world awaited a moment of complete spiritual refinement before true song could be expressed.

For through wisdom they were refined.

The capacity for song depends on the clarification brought by divine wisdom.

And behold, in the Torah there are seven pathways, as explained earlier.

The Torah contains seven modes or attributes that correspond to spiritual structures.

There is a Torah of kindness, a fiery Torah, a Torah of truth, and so on.

Each pathway expresses a different divine aspect within Torah.

And in the first week of the counting (of the Omer), the qualities of wisdom and kindness are clarified, and therefore one gate of understanding was opened to Israel.

The early days of the Omer refine the traits enabling deeper perception, allowing Israel access to a new level of divine awareness.

And although the seventh day of Passover is the sixth day of the count…

The calendar placement seems misaligned with the thematic sequence.

It is known that the six days are preparation for Shabbat, which comes on its own after the six days are rectified.

Shabbat operates as a natural culmination of prior spiritual work.

As the Ari explained regarding the reason for the Festival of the Seventh Day of Passover.

The holiness of the day emerges from the spiritual completion of the preceding days.

Therefore Israel recited a song, which is one of the portions of the Torah.

The Song at the Sea marks a foundational articulation of Torah.

And it may allude that this was one uniquely significant week among the seven weeks.

The first week of the Omer carries special prominence.

For the essence is the mind of wisdom.

Wisdom is the root from which all later refinement flows.

Therefore the entire first week is like festival days, as the Ari taught.

Its spiritual quality elevates the whole week.

And with the rectification of the first week, Moses sang, and they began the path of Torah.

The Song initiates Israel’s journey into Torah-consciousness.

And the meaning of “song” is straightening.

Song expresses the realignment of creation toward its intended order.

For all the events in Egypt were so that Israel would repair the crookedness caused by the first sin.

The Exodus serves to correct primordial distortion.

For God made man upright.

Humanity’s original design was straightness and clarity.

But through sin the worlds became mixed and confused.

The cosmic order was disrupted by spiritual failure.

And the Holy One desired to merit Israel by straightening the world through them.

Israel’s role is to restore the world’s original alignment.

And this is the meaning of “Your throne is established from then.”

The divine throne becomes stabilized through Israel’s song.

Your throne was settled through the song Israel recited.

The act of singing restores cosmic order.

And this explains the future tense “will sing,” for now began the aspect of song that had been prepared for Israel.

The song at the Sea inaugurates an ongoing capacity for praise.

For they are called witnesses, as it is written: “This people I have formed… they shall declare My praise.”

Israel testifies to God by expressing divine song.

And it is written: “To declare that the Lord is upright, my rock”—this is the core testimony of Israel, as explained elsewhere.

The essence of Israel’s witness is proclaiming God’s uprightness.

Summary: The Sefat Emet teaches that the Song at the Sea emerges from a refinement rooted in wisdom during the first week of the Omer. This song inaugurates a process of straightening the world, correcting primordial distortion, and establishing God’s throne. Israel’s role as witnesses is fulfilled through song, which restores the world’s intended order.
