Reflection on Forgotten Teachings

Vayakhel · תרל"ט (1878) · Essay 1

Vayakhel · Pekudei · Memory · Torah Study

מפ' ויקהל פקודי נשכח ממני רק המעט אשר נזכרתי

“From the portions Vayakhel and Pekudei it has been forgotten by me, only the little that I have remembered.”

The Sefat Emet acknowledges that his recollection of his earlier teachings on Vayakhel–Pekudei is limited, and he offers only the fragments that have remained with him. This admission reflects his broader theme that spiritual insight comes in flashes, and what one retains is itself divinely guided.

The Sefat Emet presents his remaining insights on Vayakhel–Pekudei as preserved remnants of inspiration, emphasizing humility before the process of memory and revelation.
