Favor brings peace with enemies

איתא בזוה"ק פ' אמור ברע"מ בענין ע' פרים דכ' ברצות ה' דרכי איש גם אויביו ישלים אתו.

It is brought in the Zohar HaKadosh, Parshas Emor, in the Ra'aya Mehemna, regarding the seventy bulls, for it is written: "When Hashem favors a man's ways, even his enemies He makes at peace with him."

The Sefas Emes cites the Zohar's discussion of the seventy parim of Sukkos, anchored in the pasuk from Mishlei that when a person finds favor in Hashem's eyes, even his enemies are reconciled to him.

והנה זה נתקיים ביצחק שבא אליו אבימלך ופייסו.

Now this was fulfilled in Yitzchak, when Avimelech came to him and made peace with him.

Yitzchak is the prototype: because he found favor before Hashem, even Avimelech, who had driven him away, came to seek a treaty with him.

דכ' רוצה ה' את יריאיו.

For it is written: "Hashem favors those who fear Him."

The "favor" of the earlier pasuk is granted specifically to those who possess yiras Shomayim.

וכמו כן אחר ימים הנוראים כל איש ישראל יש עליו יראת ה' במים אלו ולכן נתרצה ה' לבנ"י.

And likewise, after the Yamim Nora'im, every Jew has upon him the fear of Hashem through these "waters," and therefore Hashem is appeased toward Bnei Yisrael.

The awe absorbed during the Days of Awe leaves every Jew bearing yiras Hashem; this is the "water" that purifies, and through it Hashem becomes favorably disposed to Yisrael on Sukkos.

ולכן האומות והשרים שלהם משלימין עמהם.

And therefore the nations and their heavenly ministers make peace with them.

Once Yisrael has found favor, the principle of "even his enemies He makes at peace with him" takes effect — both the nations below and their spiritual overseers above are reconciled to Yisrael.

גם אויביו לרבות השרים שלמעלה.

"Even his enemies" — to include the heavenly ministers above.

The word "even" in the pasuk extends the reconciliation beyond human foes to encompass the celestial sarim of the nations.

ובזמן המקדש הי' מתקיים בפועל ממש שהיה שם היראה בשלימות:

And in the time of the Mikdash this was fulfilled in actual fact, for there the fear was complete.

When the Bais Hamikdash stood and yiras Hashem was whole, this reconciliation of the nations to Yisrael was realized tangibly and not merely in spiritual potential.

Summary: When a person finds favor before Hashem, even his enemies are made at peace with him — as with Yitzchak and Avimelech. After the Yamim Nora'im, every Jew bears the yiras Hashem absorbed in those days, so Hashem is favorably disposed to Yisrael and the nations and their heavenly ministers are reconciled — a reality fully manifest in the time of the Bais Hamikdash.
