Purim salvation through Jewish unity

On the pasuk, "There is one nation scattered and dispersed among the peoples" (Esther 3:8).

The Sefas Emes begins with Haman's accusation, which described Bnei Yisrael as fragmented and divided.

For in truth, through the galus (exile) and the intermingling among the nations, Bnei Yisrael are unable to unite as they ought to.

Exile and assimilation among the nations weaken the natural unity of Bnei Yisrael.

And the main [cause] is the seed of Amalek, which separates those who are joined.

Amalek's particular power is to drive apart what is meant to be united — the root force of division.

And in truth, "everything that is done from Heaven is for the good" (Brachos 60b).

Even the division was ultimately part of a hidden good that Hashem was orchestrating.

For because they derived benefit from the feast of Achashverosh.

The Gemara (Megillah 12a) teaches that the decree came because Bnei Yisrael enjoyed Achashverosh's banquet.

And they joined themselves to the wicked.

By partaking of the feast they bound themselves to the resha'im rather than to each other.

Therefore they were unable to unite.

Their attachment to the wicked was the very obstacle to their true unity.

And afterward, through the hatred that arose in the mind of the nations to destroy them.

The decree of annihilation brought the hatred of the nations to the surface.

This itself was the yeshuah (salvation) — that [the nations] turned into enemies, and Bnei Yisrael became united, as it is written, "Gather together all the Yehudim" (Esther 4:16), and it is written, "they assembled and stood up for their lives" (Esther 9:16).

The very hatred that threatened them severed them from the nations and forced Bnei Yisrael back into unity — and that reunification was the salvation.

Therefore the primary mitzvah of [reading] the Megillah is with ten, "every family and family" (Esther 9:28).

The Megillah is ideally read in a gathering, reflecting the theme of communal assembly.

This hints that the essence of the salvation was the gathering-together of Bnei Yisrael to come to achdus (unity).

Reading the Megillah communally embodies the Purim miracle: the salvation lay in Bnei Yisrael reuniting as one.

Summary: Haman described Bnei Yisrael as "scattered and dispersed," for galus, assimilation, and the divisive power of Amalek had broken their unity — compounded by their attachment to the wicked at Achashverosh's feast. Yet the nations' hatred itself became the salvation, severing Bnei Yisrael from the resha'im and driving them back into achdus. This is why the Megillah is read communally, hinting that the essence of the Purim yeshuah was the regathering of Bnei Yisrael into unity.
