Purity as preparation for Torah

It is brought in the Zohar HaKadosh that one must guard the purity (dachya) that comes upon him on that night.
The Zohar teaches that on the night of Shavuos a special purity descends upon a person, and he must guard and protect it.
For it is taught: "One who comes to purify himself is helped" (Shabbos 104a).
A person's own effort toward purity is met with Heavenly assistance — Hashem helps the one who strives to be pure.
And during the days of the Sefirah, Bnei Yisrael seek purity (taharah).
The counting of the Omer is precisely such a striving from below: Bnei Yisrael spend these days seeking to purify themselves.
And the forty-nine days of purity are by the power of those below, through the power of their counting — "And you shall count for yourselves" (Vayikra 23:15).
The forty-nine days of purification are achieved through human effort, the "lower ones." The verse stresses "for yourselves" — this purity is earned by Bnei Yisrael's own counting and avodah.
But the purity of the night of the festival is from Above — that which is beyond a person's own power.
The purity that descends on the night of Shavuos is a gift from Above, a level no amount of human effort could attain on its own. It is the "help" given to one who first labored to purify himself.
And purity is a preparation for receiving the Torah.
This whole process of purification is the necessary preparation for kabbalas haTorah, the receiving of the Torah on Shavuos.
For it is said, "Purify our hearts to serve You in truth" (from the davening) — and "truth" refers only to Torah; for everything serves the King, may He be blessed.
We ask that our hearts be purified to serve Hashem "in truth," and truth means Torah. All of creation serves Hashem in some way, but the unique, truthful service is through Torah.
But the avodah of truth is the mitzvos of the Torah, which are tikkunim (rectifications) in all the worlds.
The truthful service is performing the mitzvos of the Torah, for these alone accomplish real rectification throughout every spiritual world.
"Truth" encompasses from beginning to end, past and future.
Truth — like the Torah it denotes — is all-encompassing, spanning beginning to end and past to future. (The letters of "emes" are the first, middle, and last of the alef-beis.)
And a person must seek out this purity so that he may serve Hashem in truth.
The takeaway: each person must actively seek purity during these days, so that he becomes fit to serve Hashem with the true, all-embracing avodah of Torah.
Summary: On the night of Shavuos a special purity descends from Above, fulfilling "one who comes to purify himself is helped." Bnei Yisrael's own work during the forty-nine days of Sefirah is the human effort from below; the purity of the festival night is the Heavenly gift beyond human reach. All of this prepares a person to receive the Torah and to serve Hashem "in truth" — through the mitzvos, which alone bring rectification to all the worlds.
