Moshe as eternal broker of the Torah

עוד במד' יש לך מקח שא"א יודע מה לקח וע"י שכר הסרסור נתוודע.

Further in the Midrash: there is a purchase in which a person does not know what he has acquired, and only through the fee paid to the broker (sarsur) does it become known.

The Midrash gives a parable: sometimes the value of what one has acquired only becomes clear through the broker who arranged the deal.

שא"י לדעת את התורה רק באמצעות בחי' מרע"ה שנק' איש האלקים.

That one cannot come to know the Torah except by means of the aspect of Moshe Rabbeinu, peace be upon him, who is called "ish ha'Elokim" (man of God).

The "purchase" is the Torah, and the "broker" is Moshe Rabbeinu, through whom alone the Torah's true worth is grasped.

מחצה איש מחצה אלקים כמ"ש חז"ל.

Half man, half divine, as Chazal said.

Chazal describe Moshe's title "ish ha'Elokim" as meaning he was, as it were, partly human and partly above human — bridging the two realms.

והוא המחבר עליונים לתחתונים וזה הסרסור נמצא תמיד בכללות בנ"י כמ"ש תורה צוה לנו משה מורשה קהלת יעקב.

And he is the one who joins the upper worlds to the lower, and this "broker" is found always within the collective of Bnei Yisrael, as it says, "Torah was commanded to us by Moshe, an inheritance for the congregation of Yaakov."

Moshe is the eternal connector between heaven and earth, and his presence as the "broker" of Torah endures within Klal Yisrael forever — the Torah remains an "inheritance" from him.

פי' כשבנ"י מתאספין נמצא בהם התורה מורשה ומשה מורשה.

The meaning: when Bnei Yisrael gather together, the Torah is found among them as an inheritance, and Moshe too is an inheritance.

When Bnei Yisrael assemble as a congregation, both the Torah and the connecting power of Moshe are present among them as a living inheritance.

וע"י שמרע"ה מסר נפשו בעבורינו זכה שיש סיוע ועזר ממנו לבנ"י בכל דור ודור.

And because Moshe Rabbeinu gave over his soul (mesirus nefesh) for our sake, he merited that there is help and assistance from him to Bnei Yisrael in every single generation.

Moshe's self-sacrifice for the people earned him the ongoing ability to aid Bnei Yisrael in acquiring Torah throughout all generations.

וכן אחז"ל שהתורה נק' על שמו תורת משה והוא כנ"ל:

And so Chazal said that the Torah is called by his name, "Toras Moshe" — and this is as explained above.

The Torah bears Moshe's name precisely because he is its eternal "broker," the channel through whom every generation comes to truly know it.

Summary: Just as a broker reveals the hidden value of a purchase, Moshe Rabbeinu — "half man, half divine," the bridge between heaven and earth — is the eternal channel through whom Bnei Yisrael come to truly know the Torah. Because of his mesirus nefesh for the people, his help endures in every generation, which is why the Torah is forever called "Toras Moshe."
