במד' שה"ש אני חבצלת השרון אני הוא וחביבה אני כו'.
“In the Midrash on Song of Songs: ‘I am the rose of the Sharon, it is I, and I am beloved,’ etc.”

ע"ש כל הדרש על גלות מצרים ועל שאר גליות.
“See there the entire derash on the exile of Egypt and the other exiles.”
The Midrash connects the verse to the spiritual meaning behind all Jewish exiles.
הענין הוא כי בנ"י יש להם זה הכח שיכולין ליישר כל המקומות העקמימיות והמעוקשות.
“The idea is that the Children of Israel have the power to straighten all crooked and twisted places.”
Israel’s unique mission is to repair and elevate distorted aspects of the world.
לכן שלח הקב"ה אותנו לכל אלה המקומות.
“Therefore the Holy One sent us into all these places.”
Exile becomes the arena in which Israel performs this spiritual rectification.
ולכן נקראו בנ"י השולמית שמשלימין הבריאה למלך השלום.
“Thus Israel is called ‘the Shulamit,’ for they complete creation for the King of Peace.”
Israel brings harmony and completion to the divine plan.
וכתיב ד' פעמים שובי שובי על ד' הגליות שיצאו שלם מכולן.
“And Scripture says four times ‘Return, return,’ regarding the four exiles from which they emerged whole.”
The repeated appeal symbolizes redemption from each historical exile.
וע"ז כתיב אח"כ כשושנה בין החוחים כו'.
“And concerning this it is written afterward: ‘Like a rose among thorns,’ etc.”
Israel’s purity shines specifically when surrounded by harsh, thorn-like nations.
מה שירדו בנ"י למצרים ויצאו בשלימות.
“For Israel descended into Egypt and emerged in completeness.”
The Egyptian exile exemplifies spiritual descent followed by perfected emergence.
ונק' ישורון על זה השם חבצלת השרון.
“And they were called Yeshurun by this name, ‘the rose of the Sharon.’”
The title signifies Israel’s uprightness and beauty.
ואמרו שירה כשתקנו זה העקמימיות ויצאו למישור.
“And they sang the Song when they rectified this crookedness and emerged into level ground.”
Song expresses the joy of spiritual straightening and liberation.
והנה הרויחו בנ"י עי"ז להתקרב להשי"ת בהר סיני דכ' וירד ה' על הר סיני.
“And by this Israel merited to draw close to God at Sinai, as it is written: ‘And God descended upon Mount Sinai.’”
The purification accomplished in Egypt enabled the revelation at Sinai.
ולכן כתיב אח"כ כתפוח בעצי היער כן דודי בין הבנים.
“Thus it is written afterward: ‘Like an apple among the trees of the forest, so is my beloved among the sons.’”
God’s presence became uniquely revealed among Israel.
שע"י שבנ"י נכנסו בין החוחים והיו כשושנה.
“Because Israel entered among the thorns and became as a rose.”
Their endurance in exile awakened divine closeness.
עי"ז כביכול ירד השי"ת על הר סיני ונתקיים דודי בין הבנים.
“Through this, as it were, God descended upon Sinai, and ‘my beloved among the sons’ was fulfilled.”
The Sinai revelation is portrayed as a reciprocal descent matching Israel’s ascent.
כי איך אפשרי להשיג כבודו של הקב"ה רק עי"ז ששילם לנו במדה וירד לעולמות התחתונים.
“For how could it be possible to grasp the honor of God except through His descending to the lower worlds, measure for measure.”
Human spiritual reach is met by divine self-revelation.
ואלה המדריגות מתקיימים גם עתה.
“And these levels endure even now.”
The spiritual patterns of Exodus and Sinai are ongoing.
בפסח מתעורר גאולת מצרים ומתברר מעלת בנ"י כשושנה בין החוחים.
“On Passover the redemption from Egypt is awakened, and Israel’s quality as a rose among thorns becomes clear.”
Passover restores the consciousness of Israel’s essential purity.
וכפי מה שזוכין בנ"י מתקיים בשבועות כתפוח בעצי היער.
“And according to the merit Israel attains, Shavuot fulfills: ‘Like an apple among the trees of the forest.’”
The revelation at Sinai is renewed in proportion to Israel’s preparation.
ובסוכות בצלו חמדתי.
“And on Sukkot: ‘In His shade I delighted.’”
Sukkot manifests the intimacy and protection that follow revelation.
