On the pasuk "Six days He made," etc., "and He rested on the seventh day."

The Sefas Emes examines the wording of the pasuk in the Aseres Hadibros describing Hashem making the world in six days and resting on the seventh.

It is not written "vanach" ("and He rested").

He notes the precise form: the Torah writes "vayanach" rather than the simpler "vanach," hinting that Hashem gave rest rather than merely took rest.

And it may be explained that just as the six weekdays are the forces of creation to produce offspring for the sustaining of creation.

The six workdays carry the creative energies that generate and perpetuate the world's ongoing existence.

So too the day of Shabbos gives rest to all of creation and to the weekdays.

Shabbos is not just a pause but an active gift of menuchah (rest) that flows into all of creation and into the workdays themselves.

And the six days — Hashem set them as vessels for action.

Hashem designated the six weekdays as the "vessels" through which the work of the world is carried out.

And the seventh day for rest.

And He set the seventh day apart as the vessel for menuchah.

As Rashi wrote in Parshas Bereishis: the world was lacking rest; Shabbos came and the work was completed (see there).

Rashi teaches that before Shabbos creation was incomplete because it lacked rest; the arrival of Shabbos completed the work by adding the dimension of menuchah.

And the root of the rest of Shabbos Kodesh is the unification of creation.

The inner essence of Shabbos rest is that all of creation becomes unified and gathered back toward its source.

And through this it is a vessel that holds blessing.

Because Shabbos unifies creation, it becomes the vessel capable of holding and channeling berachah — as Chazal say, the only vessel that holds blessing is shalom/unity.

"And He rested" — therefore "He blessed it and sanctified it."

Because of the rest (which is unity), the pasuk continues that Hashem blessed and sanctified the seventh day.

These are the aspects of yichud (unity), kedushah, and berachah, and likewise it is written "and He ceased," etc., "and He blessed and sanctified."

Shabbos thus contains three aspects — unity (the rest), holiness, and blessing — and this same triad appears again in the Torah's account of Shabbos.

And these are the three meals of Shabbos Kodesh.

These three aspects — unity, holiness, and blessing — correspond to the three seudos we eat on Shabbos.

Summary: The weekdays are Hashem's vessels for action, while Shabbos is the vessel for menuchah — a rest that actively unifies all of creation and thereby becomes the vessel that holds blessing. This rest, holiness, and blessing form a threefold quality of Shabbos that corresponds to its three seudos.
